Project 05 – Multi-Material & Motion 

Baby Mobile




For the final project, I knew I wanted to create motion apart from using something like the motor to keep with my theme. I ended up landing on a baby mobile because I thought of how this was something used then and also now. I was also excited about the delicate nature of it as well and being able to explore with balance and materials. 

Process: 

1. Sketch out the mobile idea in terms of the number of strings, lengths, dangling pieces, hoop length, etc
2. Sketch out a bunny in Procreate
3. Convert the bunny sketch into an Adobe Illustrator object and file
   
4. Practice laser cutt on cardboard
   
5. Practice stitching for the felt stars 
   
6. Cut, stitch, and fill 6 small stars 
   
7. Cut, stitch, and fill 3 big stars
   
8. Assemble the individual pieces for each string
   
9. Attach strings to the hoop
   
10. Attach hanging strings
