This project explores life beyond the digital age, focusing on entertainment and celebration as key aspects of human connection. What I love about nostalgia is the longing for a simpler time, one less entangled with screens and constant connectivity. By drawing inspiration from different eras of living and entertainment, the pieces created examine past traditions to today’s digital landscape.

For this project, I created a box using a subtractive process. This was the first time I used several of the shop tools and the hardest part for me was trying to make the holes even across the bottom.
Feb 4
For this week, I created five nearly identical candle holders. They are meant to hold candle sticks, and I continue exploring with holes made by the forstner bit.
Feb 11
For this project, I created two vinyl records. The red one is the “large” laser cut and represents The Marias’ Cinema album, while the frosted acrylic is a Big Thief album. This project involved several prototypes to get stroke weight and engraving depths how I wanted it to be.
Feb 25
For this week, I chose to make an enclosure that would hold matches. The box has an inner box that slides in and out, so the biggest challenge I faced with this was having precise measurements so that the sliding motion would be smooth.

With the two weeks given for this final project, I decided to create a baby mobile. I learned several new skills with this project, such as how to sew and balance.
